GUIDE TO SEX PROBLEMS

Can a woman do something about frigidity?

From a practical point of view, if she has the-penis desire to grips with condition and try to overcome it, treatment is worthwhile. Of course, as the patient gets older there is less and less time to enjoy whatever results are obtained, but on occasion women in their fifties or sixties improve so much with psychiatric treatment that they marry for the first time. Orgasmic impairment can also affect those who are just stepping over the sexual threshold.

Does fear of any kind in a female prevent orgasm?

In human beings, sexual-muscles is optional. Copulation is not vital for survival; we only seek it when more urgent needs have been met. One of the first functions to go overboard is orgasm, (Next goes erection in the male, followed by complete loss of sexual desire in both sexes.) A nineteen-year-old girl who deep inside wonders if it really is all right may have just enough fear to keep her from reaching a sexual climax.

A twenty- five-year-old secretary, divorced with two small children, may worry just enough about getting pregnant to wipe out any chance of orgasm.

Another factor is best described as the vaginal compromise. In many sexually active unmarried girls there are two diametrically opposing forces: “I want sex! I need sex!” and from an earlier edition of their personalities. Sex before marriage is wrong! Save it for husband!” Since the brain too-nervous cannot reconcile such opposing viewpoints, it bows out and leaves the’ job to a more versatile organ, the vagina. The net result is intercourse without guilt and incidentally without orgasm. The “crime”, sexual intercourse, is immediately followed by the “punishment,” orgasmic impairment. The vagina is both judge and executioner-the prefect compromise. There are few tortures more agonizing than being brought to the brink of sexual fulfillment and having orgasm snatched away at the last moment.

The second and most unfortunate aspect of this punishment is that it never has to happen. There is no reason whatsoever that requires a-woman-nympho normal adult to relentlessly punish herself for not adhering to a moral code neatly tailored to the needs of a ten-year old girl. It is hard to justify sexual intercourse three times a week for a young lady in junior high school. It is hard not to encourage the same frequency in a vigorous twenty-two year-old girl who is bursting with sexual vitality and sexual’ hormones. Every form of sexual behavior has its best time and place.
